Shot Blasting
- Clean the surface: Removing rust, dirt, old paint, or other contaminants.
- Improve surface texture: Creating a smooth, uniform, or matte finish, depending on the media used.
- Enhance adhesion: Preparing a surface to improve the bonding of subsequent coatings (like powder coating or paint).
- Strengthen the material: Shot peening, a specific form of shot blasting, induces compressive stress on the material’s surface, increasing its strength and resistance to fatigue or cracking.
Powder Coating
- Application: The powder is typically made of a combination of resins, pigments, and curing agents. The powder is sprayed onto the object using an electrostatic process, where the part is given a positive charge, and the powder particles are negatively charged. This allows the powder to cling to the surface.
- Curing: The coated part is then placed in an oven where the powder melts and forms a solid, uniform coating that is bonded to the surface.
